We occasionally go into Scotland and have been told we must fit a no smoking sign that fits the criteria for Scottish signs. Is this correct?
If the vehicle is based in England or Wales then it needs to comply with the legislation that applies to each country. The sign for vehicles based in Scotland contains more information and if you regularly go into Scotland then you may find it prudent to affix signs that would be legal in Scotland as these would meet the requirements for Scotland and contain all the information required for England and Wales. FTA has a guide to no smoking signage and if you would like a copy please contact the Compliance Advice Centre on 03700 202021.
