It requires a robust TPMS sensor to replace traditional valve caps on all tyres. Once fitted, the sensors auto-pair with a stylish solar-powered windscreen display to alert to the driver to any tyres in distress through loss of pressure, fast leakage and increase in temperature or pressure-often a sign of an impending tyre blow-out, which can have harmful implications to both the drivers safety and the environment.
A red flashing LED on the relevant TPMS sensor will indicate the affected tyre position for two minutes when the vehicle is parked, allowing the tyre to be re-inflated. Once completed, the receiver reverts to reporting mode.
In many original equipment systems, which could be slow to notify of a pressure leak and often only alert drivers to losses of more than 25 per cent. In contrast the display unit provides:
An early low-pressure warning via a flashing icon every 20 seconds if a tyre becomes under-inflated by 15 per cent or more.
An audible alert is added when the pressure either drops by 25 per cent, or should the tyre be over-inflated by 35 per cent or more.
For fast leakage (at least 2 psi per minute), all icons flash in addition to a beeping alarm, alerting the driver to pull over.

In addition, Wheely-Safe’s patented ‘search and assign’ technology allows the driver to hook up to any trailer with MICHELIN TPMS Light Fleet sensors fitted, and move sensors between different wheel positions, without any reprogramming, up to a maximum of 12. The sensors can also be fitted to vehicles with different tyre pressures on different axles.
Each system requires 1x solar powered receiver and 1x sensor for every tyre to be monitored (up to a maximum of 12 tyres monitored per journey). Pressure checkers are strongly recommended for each vehicle, allowing the driver to check pressures at any time. However, some customers issue them purely to their workshop team (a single pressure checker is compatible with all MICHELIN TPMS Light Fleet sensors). Locking wheel nuts (and accompanying spanners) are also an optional security feature.

Yes, it really is that simple!
How do I install the Light Fleet?
Simply press and hold down the small button on the back of the windscreen display unit, wait for the icons to light up, remove the adhesive backing, and adhere the receiver to the inside of the windscreen.
The TPMS sensors are fitted by removing the existing valve dust caps from your wheels, inflating the tyres to the correct pressure when cold then screwing on the anti-theft nut followed by the sensor, locking the sensor in place with the spanner provided… and that’s it!

What do I do if I have a technical issue?
MICHELIN TPMS Light Fleet is designed to be ‘plug-and-play’ and we’d be surprised if you encounter any technical issues. But if you do, just get in touch via our contact us page and we’ll provide prompt assistance.

Do the external sensors or locking wheel nuts corrode?
The sensors use a thread which is nickel-plated. This will avoid corrosion with valve stems such as aluminium. During winter when the roads are heavily salted, it is advisable to take precautions by removing the sensors and placing a small amount of silicone grease or WD40 on the locking nut and screw thread of the stem, and periodically checking during this time. Where the wheel will be exposed to extremely salty conditions e.g. boat trailers immersed in salt water, we recommend not to use the locking nut.What speeds can the system operate at?
MICHELIN TPMS Light Fleet has been tested at high speeds. If you have a Bugatti Veyron in your fleet, it’ll still work perfectly.Can this product be fitted to heavy commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses or coaches?MICHELIN TPMS Light Fleet is for tyres with pressures ranging from 22 – 86 psi. for cars, vans, minibuses, light plant and trailers.
Do I need to fit batteries?
The windscreen-mounted display unit is solar-powered. Just be sure to mount it where the receiver will get a clear view of the sun (i.e. not behind a sun strip) The unit should even charge on an overcast day provided it is exposed to daylight.
Each TPMS sensor has a built-in battery projected to last 3-5 years, depending on vehicle use and applications. An accelerometer in each sensor allows it to sleep when stationary for a period, only waking up once the journey starts – to maximise battery conservation.
The pressure checker requires a pair of AAA batteries (supplied).
How many sensors can the system monitor on a journey?
Up to 12 tyres can be monitored on a journey, making it perfect for operation with trailers, caravans and plant equipment.
What happens if a sensor is damaged in an accident or needs replacing out of warranty?
Additional or replacement sensors can be purchased individually.
What happens if my display unit battery power is low?
If the on/off icon flashes red this means that the battery power in the display unit is low and needs topping up. Leaving it in direct sunlight for approximately 10 minutes will fully charge the receiver. The receiver will also charge if left in light on a cloudy day but will take a little longer.
How long is the warranty?
The system is warranted to be free from manufacturing defects and is guaranteed for a period of 12 months from date of purchase.
Can the TPMS sensors be stolen?
They are secured in place using the anti-theft lock nuts which are screwed onto the tyre valve first, then locked into place with the spanner provided.
When cleaning my wheels can I wash the sensors?
This is not a problem, however please avoid using specific wheel cleaning chemicals which may, in some cases, attach themselves to the sensor. This may give the effect of a discolouration of the sensor, which can only be removed with rigorous cleaning.
What range can the system work over-i.e. when working with trailers?
The sensors have been tested over 50 metres in free air. However, when the sensor is positioned within a wheel arch and the receiver mounted on the windscreen, there is increased interference. We recommend keeping the sensors within 7 metres of the receiver, but this is a conservative guide only.
Which telematics systems is it compatible with?
Using a Bluetooth connection, the system can be made compatible with all telematics systems via the individual telematics provider.
How do I program my correct pressure settings into the unit?
Quite simply, you don’t. We’ve designed our TPMS sensors to automatically calibrate to your tyre pressures when first installed. This is unique to our system, avoiding the need for bulky monitor-style receivers with fiddly buttons. Simply ensure your tyres are correctly inflated when cold before installation.
Don't all new cars have to have a TPMS fitted as standard by the manufacturer?
Yes, all new cars in the UK since 2014 must have a tyre pressure monitoring system – but these tend to only alert the driver when a tyre has lost at least 25 per cent of its pressure, and most don’t include a simple way of checking pressures. This means they won’t help you to keep on top of your tyre pressure management, they won’t alert you to heat build-up in a tyre and you won’t be able to check your pressures quickly, hygienically and without loss of air.
Are the sensors waterproof?
The sensors are waterproof and have been tested to IP67 rating which is a 1 metre depth. However, we don’t recommend that they are left immersed in water permanently as this can cause corrosion over time.
